CPNJ will be hosting a free seminar called “What Happens When Your Child With A Disability Turns 18?” at it’s Horizon High School (71 – 77 Okner Parkway Livingston, NJ) on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 7:00pm. The featured speaker will be Raymond J. Falcon, Jr.,Esq. who advises clients in matters of estate planning and probate and administration of decedents’ estates, with a concentration in planning for families with members who have special needs. Horizon High School is proud to announce the addition of a second life skills room to it’s program. The “Life Skills 2” room focuses on apartment living and includes dressers, a bed, a television and additional items to incorporate activities of daily living and help students to become more independent.
The life skills will work on making a bed, sorting and organizing clothing, cleaning, dusting and vacuuming as well as personal hygiene and nutrition. These additions to the curriculum will also include such topics as brushing teeth, the importance of hand washing as protection against germs and illness, and making healthy food choices via the study of the food pyramid.
