Horizon Elementary School loves Dr. Seuss! And what better way to celebrate his birthday than to invite Horizon School volunteers to the Dr. Seuss library for a themed brunch! Guests got the opportunity to mingle and trial some exciting new technologies the school utilizes for its students, including the eye-gaze vision tracking tablet and virtual reality headsets! Volunteers also got the opportunity to formally meet Horizon Elementary Principal Hetty Kintiroglou, Elementary Coordinator of Therapy Jamie Pasterick, and CPNJ VP of Education Joseph Schwartz.
In honor of Read Across America and Dr. Suess’ Birthday (tomorrow, March 2nd), volunteers Michael Giannone, Michele Giannone, and Michael Begley came to Horizon School dressed as characters from the popular Dr. Seuss book “The Cat in the Hat”. Traveling room to room, they entertained the students by reading the author’s beloved book, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” After visiting the classrooms, the Cat in the Hat, Thing 1, and Thing 2 teamed up with the students and enjoyed Grinch themed activities! Dr. Seuss’s books are extremely popular at Horizon School, and students were overjoyed to get a visit from their favorite characters.
To honor the memory of their daughter Gabriella , Michelle and Michael Giannone volunteer with their close friend Michael Begley at a variety of children hospitals and schools. Their daughter was a student at Horizon, so they always stop by our school. We are very grateful for their generosity, and every year the students love to see them!
