Last Friday CPNJ hosted its 2018 Staff Appreciation Brunch at Cedar Hill Golf and Country Club in Livingston, NJ. This year’s theme was “Celebrating Allies and Advocates.” Years of Service and Above and Beyond the Call of Duty awardees were acknowledged for all that they do for our students and consumers. This year’s impactful speakers were Peter Crimi (speaker, advocate and Direct Support Professional), LaShameik McPhatter (speaker, advocate and service recipient) and Rocco and Carol Mandaglio (allies, advocates and parents). This year’s event highlighted the launch of CPNJ’s Advocacy committee and staff were given opportunities to take the R-Word Pledge, signup for the NJCDD’s People and Families magazine and become individual members of the DSP Wage coalition. (CPNJ is a member organization of this coalition currently fighting for a DSP living wage in our state.) We would also like to congratulate Alicia-Ann Caesar for organizing the event and the rest of the event committee (Melissa Kuderka & Patti Murray)!
On Saturday, April 14th, over 250 people attended Horizon High School’s 5th Annual Tricky Tray. The event was a huge success, raising over $22,000 dollars to support the school’s annual fund! A very special thanks to Janet Pereira-Spain and Natasha McCall for their ongoing leadership of this event and to the members of the event committee: Ken Brucato, Ted Groh, Laura Maresciallo, Jennifer McClean, Katie Regan, Beth Reuter, Jennymond Sawyer and Laura Vesuvio. Thank you also to Teresa Hatch for all of her hard work. and thank you to everyone for your ticket purchases and your generous donations of raffle prizes and your time.
