Our Pillar Schools and day programs for adults are currently closed for participants. We are deeply grateful to our staff working in our group homes and our In-Home Supports program for continuing to serve our participants during this challenging time.

School & Agency News

During the Horizon Schools Spring Break, we held our most successful Spring Horizon Camp to date with 22 students in attendance.  On Monday, the students enjoyed a trip to Verona Park where they enjoyed the sunshine while flying kites and playing soccer.  On Tuesday, Miss Melissa taught a creative movement class and a hiphop class which kept the staff and students moving and grooving.  Wednesday’s activities included a trip to World of Wings, where campers and staff enjoyed walking through the indoor butterfly atrium and were able to see and touch a bearded dragon lizard. Thursday’s fun concluded with a musical performance by Miss Kathy.  Everyone enjoyed singing and playing instruments to some of their favorite songs.  The campers also made their own pizzas and enjoyed plenty of art and craft projects. We will be running a June camp for students in between the last day of school and the first day of extended school year.  The camp includes a bowling trip, a musical performance, a barbecue at the lower school playground and a water play day.  Flyers will be sent home this week.  Information about the August camp will also be available shortly.

Over 300 students, volunteers, sponsors, and staff gathered at Horizon School for it’s annual Wheelin’ – N’ Walkin’ Challenge. This year they raised $100,000 dollars , all of which will go directly to the school. This year there we also had a special surprise. Carlo’s Bakery (Home to the Cake Boss) made a special cake just for the Horizon school. A big thanks to the WWC committee Alisa Brown, Sara Garbarini, Gina Wagner, Inderjit Minhas, Linda Peroff, and Betsy Allemand for helping make this event so special!
