Our Pillar Schools and day programs for adults are currently closed for participants. We are deeply grateful to our staff working in our group homes and our In-Home Supports program for continuing to serve our participants during this challenging time.

School & Agency News

Earlier this month Horizon School staff Trish O’Connor, Lisa Diorio, and Rachel Goldman, along with former principal and current member of the CPNJ Board of Trustees Bette Hanauer, traveled to Jefferson Elementary School to promote the understanding and acceptance of children with disabilities. They ran four stations that gave students of Jefferson the opportunity to experience the challenges and obstacles that children with disabilities face. Each station simulated a different disability, and the students got a chance to do everyday tasks with that particular disability. The students had a lot of fun, but also developed a new understanding of children with special needs!

The class has been working on “Math in the Flower Garden” a math story for a Mother’s Day activity. Ten roses were lined up on the line counter. Timothy had to point to each rose on the line counter as a staff counted using the pre-programmed step-by-step communicator.
