Pillar Care is actively monitoring the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Many of those we serve are medically fragile and are particularly vulnerable, so we are doing everything possible to protect them as well as our staff members and will be working with local officials to respond to any issues as they arise. The CDC recommends the following: wash and dry hands frequently and thoroughly (20 second scrub is recommended); cover your mouth if you cough and sneeze with a tissue or your elbow, not your hands; avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth; use alcohol-based hand sanitizer, if soap and water are not available; and clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects. Please reach out to us at any time with questions or concerns.
In celebration of Read Across America and Dr. Suess’ Birthday (Monday, March 2nd), volunteers Michael Giannone, Michele Giannone, and Michael Begley visited Pillar Elementary School dressed as characters from the popular Dr. Seuss book “The Cat in the Hat”. The jubilant trio visited every classroom to share a story with our Pillar students! To honor the memory of their daughter Gabriella , Michelle and Michael Giannone volunteer with their close friend Michael Begley at a variety of children’s hospitals and schools. Their daughter was a student at Pillar Elementary (formerly Horizon School), so they always make a point to visit our school. We are very grateful for their generosity and every year the students look forward to their visit.
